With the release of GS1 EANCOM 2002 all maintenance and development of the GS1 EANCOM 97 standard has ceased and all education and training services are now based on the latest version. GS1 Australia continues to support users of the GS1 EANCOM 97 standard in existing engaged industry sectors but please note that new version guidelines for General Merchandise will be published shortly. 3. I deal with multiple retailers who all seem to have a slightly different EDI documents for the same thing. Are we likely to see a convergence of these into one standard?
Retailers have been using slightly different documents to suit individual business processes. As time has progressed, the standards have updated, and new retailers have started on new versions of existing documents. In reality, it is unlikely that all will converge to the same document standard. It should be noted however that solution providers can assist in translating the different logic into what you may be using, so you only ‘see’ one kind of EDI document.
