Need a Barcode?
The first step to placing a GS1 BarCode on your product is determining how many barcodes you need. Each barcode represents a number. GS1 allocates these numbers to you. The numbers are called Global Trade item Number (GTINs).
How many Barcodes do I need?
If you are a small to medium business you may only require one to five numbers. As your business grows, your requirements for more numbers will also grow. GS1 Australia caters for all needs.

| In the long term if you foresee your business requiring more than five numbers it is a greater cost benefit to apply for full membership. Full Membership provides your business with a GS1 Company Prefix. This gives you the ability to allocate your numbers using your GS1 Company Prefix. |
